Hi Loves, It's been awhile since I've blogged and I will definitely be updating you guys on a big life change that will affect my blog for the better. But first I had to bring you this fabulous collaboration I got to do with some other fabulous black bloggers in the Houston area. I absolutely love summer style but especially a beautiful summer dress. As a woman of color, it was even more of a treat to  join forces with these other stylish women of color. Also, the different body types represented in this collaboration really make me proud to be a woman. We are truly stronger together! So whether you're a fan of floral or solid colors, fitted or flowing, long or short, we've got you covered!

Most of us leaned towards a long maxi style dress but you'll notice the short off the shoulder green dress that Nneka from www.queenofsleeves.com is wearing. I opted for a fresh white maxi dress with the ruffled detail from Amiclubwear.com. The spaghetti string style works perfectly if you want to show off your shoulders as well as have some top support. I added some chandelier earrings and a statement ring from forver21. I wanted my look to be effortless and comfortable but still chic. That is essentially my style.

There are definitely a lot of choices when it comes to summer dresses. You should chose a summer dress style that has breathable fabric for hot summer days but definitely reflects your style. That is exactly what all the beautiful ladies pictured did. All of the styles were comfortable and fit each of our individual styles. Not to mention, each styles flatters the body types represented.

Hi beauties! As you know if you've checked out my previous post, I'm pretty fresh off of a fabulous trip I took with my husband to Puerto Rico in March. I spent most of the trip in my bikini and cover ups enjoying the weather and beach. Of course I got a couple outfit shots in for my blog just for you guys. ;) I purchased this romper from Zaful.com and ironically it was one of the clothing items on my Zaful wishlist.

Though it's a beautiful romper, I wasn't sure if I would really be able to rock it. Embroidered clothing is a hit or miss for me. Especially the way the sleeves are a sheer material and embroidered. I was crossing my fingers that I wasn't receiving a beautiful outfit that was too uncomfortable to wear. Luckily for me, I was pleasantly surprised with how comfortable the romper is. It's also just the right amount of glitz to draw attention but not blind anyone. lol

The length is perfect for spring and summer but not too short. I'm 5ft 6in and most rompers are a little too short for my height. I was actually able to sit down without this romper riding all the way up and it is flattering to my back side. Surprisingly, I really like the green embroidery as well. It's a subtle pop of color mixed with the cream/nude color of the romper. The fabric is also quite light and breathable despite all of the detail. I paired it with a simple closed toe nude pair of heels. You can definitely pair this romper with some nude sandals as well. Overall, I felt absolutely fabulous and I was complimented several times.

Hi loves! I'm super excited to share more from my Puerto Rico Trip. It was hard to find time for filming and photo taking due to a couple days of scattered rain and our planned excursions. So I didn't get as much footage as I planned. We had to be very careful with our equipment but we were able to capture some great images & video. It forced us to live in the moment a little more than usual which actually was a good thing.
View from our Airbnb!

The fact that I'd be turning 30 in April definitely motivated me to plan a fun but affordable trip. There were a few key reasons why I decided on Puerto Rico. 1) It's U.S territory. So no passport and no currency exchange required. Though I do have a passport but I hate dealing with customs. Plus, I was able to use my cell phone without the extra charges.  2) The scenery. Images of the beaches, old San Juan and the rain forest really drew me in. 3) Travel Distance. One day I would love to take a trip to the Maldives, Dubai, Asia and other awesome travel destinations. I was just not feeling like a 12 to 24 hour flight this time around. It's a little under 5 hours from Houston to Puerto Rico.

Conando beach in San Juan was a short walk away <3

The trip was better than I imagined! I snorkeled for the first time in deep water. I was given a floating device that really helped put me at ease because I am not a strong swimmer. It was beautiful and an awesome first time experience. We also road an ATV through the El Yunque Rainforest. The views were amazing and I didn't even mind how muddy I got riding on the back with my husband. In fact, right after that I changed my clothes and got made up to do a photo shoot with an awesome group of locals I meet. Read my previous post to read more about that collaboration here: Naturalistas in Puerto Rico!

We only got a few cellphone pics of the ATV due to the chance or rain :(

We also got to visit old San Juan which is so cultured and has fabulous colored buildings. The food was great though I was only able to share snaps of my food on social media before devouring it. lol We did quite a bit of walking and other activity so we stayed hungry. Puerto Rico is an awesome travel destination! One of my favorite trips so far.

Hi loves! So I've just come back from a 5 day trip to Puerto Rico. I plan on blogging all about my trip in another post. But first I wanted to share the fabulous photoshoot I did with a few Afro Latina's (& Latino). I found this particular curly squad through a blog called Diosas al Natural. It's a blog that celebrates natural hair beauties in Puerto Rico. I decided to reach out to a few of the people in a featured post that had taken awesome natural hair group pics in San Juan, PR. Luckily for me a couple of them responded and we planned a shoot for my blog.

Peep our little naturalista <3 <3

I am really amazed at how our love for naturally curly hair brought us all together. As someone who struggled for a long time to make the transition to natural hair, I am elated that I was able to coordinate this type of shoot. It was so refreshing to meet a group of other Afro curly heads who rock their hair with pride everyday. I can't think of a better way to celebrate me coming full circle in my natural hair journey than teaming up with other naturalistas.

The beautiful young Afro Latina's and Latino that came out to shoot with me were so very sweet and completely own their curly hair. I wish that when I was younger I had their confidence and style. We talked for a bit even through the language barrier I could tell that they had great spirits. They've all been friends since high school and have remained friends while in college. To see a group of black-Latin young people embrace both their Latin and African heritage is beautiful. What a beautiful way to represent natural hair within' the two cultures. Special thanks to my hubby Joseph for capturing these awesome images!
