I'm surprisingly not a hair product junkie since I've transitioned to natural hair. When I had relaxed hair I tried nearly every product on the market. lol I had so many products and I threw away half of them by the time I was ready to transition to natural hair.
Now I realize my hair likes to be left alone for the most part. It will grow and flourish with basic care. With minimal manipulation and great quality products I know I can retain healthy natural hair. So the products I mention in the video above are my staples that will likely never change.
MY MONTHLY REGIMEN:
WEEK ONE: Wash with a Sulfate Free Shampoo and either do a wet style (twist out, braid out, or bantu knots) or blow dry my hair to stretch it.
WEEK TWO: Co-Wash (using conditioner as a shampoo) braid or twist my hair out for stretch.
WEEK THREE: Wash with a Sulfate Free Shampoo. Wet style (twist out, braid out, or bantu knots) or blow dry my hair to stretch it.
WEEK FOUR: Co-Wash (using conditioner as a shampoo) braid or twist my hair out for stretch.
Daily Hair Care:
In between washing I wear my hair in a high puffy ponytail or bun, twist out, braid out, or fluffy straight if it's been blow dried out.
I separate my hair with my fingers 90% of the time when I want to do a style on dry hair. I only fully detangle my hair on wash days.
I moisturize 2 to 3 days a week. OR more if I feel the need to. I use a moisturizing hair lotion or cream and seal with coconut oil.
Sounds simple right?
I think natural hair and hair in general is healthier the less you manipulate it. Combing & styling everyday, straightening too much, hair coloring and using too many products does more harm than good. Which is the biggest reason I stopped chemically straightening my hair.
